Frequently Asked Questions - Women
Why are your bras so expensive?
Our bras are a higher quality bra, engineered to fit well. They are made of higher quality fabrics that are meant to help the bra last longer in its original state. The materials used are finer laces or technically advanced fibres. A bra is an investment that is the basis for every outfit. It will help you look and feel better! It’s similar to purchasing a nice quality pair of shoes or glasses.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No, we do not make appointments. We ask that you sign up on the fitting room sheet when you arrive. If you are coming at the end of the night please come 45 minutes before we close as the girls close on the hour.
How long should I put aside for a fitting?
We ask that you leave ½ hour to 40 minutes for you fitting. If you are coming at the end of the night please come 45 minutes before we close as the girls close on the hour.
How many bras should I have?
We recommend working up to owning three well fitting bras. They can be rotated throughout the week to help them last longer and support you better for a longer period of time. If you are an active woman a sports bras is also necessary.
If I don’t want my bra to show under my white shirt what colour of bra should I wear?
To disguise your bra completely you should wear a bra colour that matches or is darker than your natural skin tone. Keep in mind, white or ivory bras will be completely visible under a white shirt. This rule applies to underwear as well!
Why does my back bra strap ride up?
The band rides up because the band is too big. You need to be refit to determine what cup you’ll need to move to when you get the smaller back band. NOTE: every time you go down in the back band the cup will go smaller as well. For instance, B32, B34 and B36 are three different cups sizes as well as three different back sizes.
Why does the wire dig in?
Chances are the back band is too big or the cups are too small. As the band is pulled up higher on your back from the weight of your breasts, the wire is pulled up under your breast making it uncomfortable.
Why does the wire come away from my body?
This means the cup is too shallow. Your breast needs more space so that the wire can rest firmly against your frame.
Why do I have to wash my bras in cold water?
Heat breaks down elastic so we recommend washing lingerie in cooler temperatures to help preserve their life span.
Why does my skin pop up over the edge of my bra?
This is a sign that you are normal and have skin. When elastic is snuggly fit around your torso to give your breasts support it is normal for your skin to want to ease out of the bra in fleshier areas. If you tied a string around your finger the skin would come out as well. This is a common concern that is valid. We encourage you to accept your body as is and to focus on the great lift and support you are receiving from your bra!
When should I bring my daughter in to get a fitting?
Your daughter can come in as soon as she starts to develop or when she asks to. Depending on her size, we will find a suitable style to meet her needs. It is very important to keep in mind that if your daughter is active in sports it is very wise to get a sports bra at the beginning of her development. If your daughter is busty or a hard to find size, it is important to recognize that all the positive support you can offer will help her a lot! It may not be easy for her to accept her breasts or new size and cost or blame placing tends to have a lasting negative impact. We are trying to encourage girls to accept their bodies as they are. Having the right fitting bra will help their overall confidence and esteem.
When should I get a maternity bra?
It’s a good idea to get refit for a maternity bra as soon as you feel you have grown out of your current wired bras. We do not recommend wearing a wire throughout your pregnancy. Your bosom is constantly growing and it should not be bumping into a hard wire. We try to keep your costs down by finding economical solutions.
I like front closures on my bra. I couldn’t find any on your website, why?
We don’t normally carry front closure bras unless they can be adjusted at the back and the front. When the bra stretches out in the band, you cannot tighten up the bra. At this point the band will start to ride up your back and you will begin to lose support, your shoulders will begin to bare the weight of your breasts and the wires will begin to dig in. We recommend women who have a difficult time doing up their bras to hook them up in the front, twist the bra around and slip your arms in. Your bra will last longer and give better support when you can continue to modify its fit with wear.
