The Heart Truth is a campain aimed at raising awareness about the risk of heart disease and stroke among women.

One of the very best ways to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke is to include more physical activity in your life. And if we learned any lessons from the Shopaholic series , it is that sometimes having new work out gear really will help to get us working out. Kidding aside, we know first hand that exercising in the wrong sports bra can not only be uncomfortable, it can be downright painful.

Do something good for your health this spring! Have the correct sports bra selected for your by our trained fitters, get active, and reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Brabomination: Christina Hendricks

February 18th, 2010

Oh, this one is painful. Very painful. Because we love Christina Hendricks. She’s awesome on Mad Men, is a total babe AND rocks the curvy figure in a way the media hasn’t seen in a long time. From Christina to Crystal Renn and the Kardashian sisters (love em or hate em), it really is refreshing to see greater variety of figures in the popular media lately. Is this signaling a change away from the ‘waif’ look that has been so popular for so long? Maybe. We hope that it is a signal that there will be greater variety of women portrayed in media.

But, we digress. This is about Christina, and how painful it is for us to brabominate her.

Because so often, she writes the book on dressing appropriately for your figure, especially on the red carpet:

*Sep 20 - 00:05*

Delicious! And clearly wearing the correct bra. Perfecto.

And obviously, her character Joan on Mad Men is appropriately styled for the era, and so she sure seems to be wearing the right undergarments:

So if she can get it so right…how do you explain this?

Oh dear!!! That is one ill fitting bra. Christina is helpfully wearing a sheer top so we can thoughtfully inspect…yep, the wires aren’t sitting flat, she is pillowing and worse still, her shoulders appear strained by the shoulder straps of this bra. This is because she has chosen to wear a cup that is too small and a back that is too large.

It is a classic case of a woman who is above a dd working within the constraints of the ‘regular’ mall bra store. When you can’t easily find bras in ff’s or e’s or g’s, you settle. You settle for something horrible, because you feel you have no choice. Because you haven’t been fit and don’t yet know the truth!! Christina needs to learn the facts about bra fittings!

So many of you reading will relate to this story and it is all too common. That’s why we continue to endlessly rant about the importance of a bra fitting. Any busty babe that has converted from “settling” for a mall bra to wearing the correctly fitted bra from a good quality manufacturer can tell you, the difference is life-altering. It can be life-altering for a woman of any size. We have thousands of customers who will testify to this! Hmm. Maybe one of them knows Christina?

This bra is so unfortunate, in fact, that Christina herself seems uncomfortable in her clothes in some of the pictures:

42143__AL6__838_122_564lo Hmm, could it be the sheer top? We’d like to think so but we know better. Any busty babe will tell you, once you are in the right bra, you could wear almost any top and feel great. Heck, you could even not wear a top at all, if you liked the bra enough. Christina needs a dose of this bra-confidence!

Such a shame really that it detracts from her entire outfit, which we actually think would be really flattering with the right bra. Black and lacy wouldn’t be our first choice – we’d choose solid black with a lined cup for coverage, but that’s us. We might even choose strapless. But first and foremost, we’d make sure she was in the right size.

We’ve been thinking that if we were a successful actress her size (and we had gotten properly fit) we’d buy a whole wardrobe of lingerie in the correct size – strapless, bustier, all the colours of the rainbow, and so on, so that we could supply our own wardrobe to the stylists we’d be sure to be stuck with. That might help unfortunate shots like this one from happening:

Sure, sure, it is just a steamy picture for a men’s magazine. But, lets look closer. The wires on that bustier are sitting on her breasts, not her ribs. The wires are sticking out at the front. I would venture to say, that outside of standing in this exact position, that she came right out the top of this bustier! Sure, it works for the shoot, but wouldn’t it be amazing if she could pose in any position, comfortably, in a beautiful, well fit bra or bustier? Where are all the bra fitters in Hollywood?

Not an isolated incident either:

Christina-Hendricks-New-York-Magazine

We have to say that we really didn’t want to post this. Mostly because we admire her but also because it is just so rare to see a woman of any curve on the cover of any magazine. We don’t want to take away from that. And she looks absolutely fantastic. We were even willing to let the cheap bargain-bin excuse for lingerie have a pass on the cover of NY Magazine (stifling our “what, is that all you could find in a dd?” comments…not that Ms. Hendricks is a dd…but you get the idea) because it seemed to us they weren’t trying to make her look fake, like something she isn’t. They didn’t appear to photoshop 40 lbs off of her frame. That’s refreshing.

But when we saw the pics of her at Fashion week above, we felt we would be avoiding the ultimate Brabomination in recent memory. This actress is quickly becoming an icon to busty, curvy women everywhere. Let us  hope she sorts this out soon! You know it is on her mind. She was even quoted as saying she’s “…look[ing] for a dress that makes you go, ‘[Gasp,] wow!’ … And then, [she thinks] ‘Can I wear a bra with that?’” Hello, relatable! Now…only if she had the right bras to go with the dresses….

Either Joan the character needs to loan Christina the actress her lingerie, or Christina needs to bring herself to secrets from your sister… right away!
