VPL – Visible Panty Line

The term “VPL” which refers to a “Visible Panty Line” first became popular after it was used in the 1977 Woody Allen film “Annie Hall”. Perhaps it is an unfortunate development that such a term exists, alas, whats done is done – and we now have the term. Another thing for us ladies to worry about.
Opinions differ on how to handle difficult clothing such as polyester slacks or white skirts. One definite is that wearing a quality garment is one way to avoid VPL, for example, wearing skirts which are fully lined instead of thinner material will help to prevent visible seams and pulls. Also, wearing underwear that fits well will help to prevent a line. Too often we continue to wear undies that are too small or too big after a change in weight or shape.
The thong has always been touted as a way to avoid VPL, however in our experience this can lead to another dreaded result: VTL, “Visible Thong Line”, which, depending on who you ask, could be a more tragic situation!
Some clients tell us that though wearing a thong will work with an outfit for a weekend or evening event, they feel that wearing a thong at the office is just not appropriate, and they’d rather show a VPL than a VTL or worse yet, appear to be wearing nothing at all. For these clients, we recommend a seamless pantie, which can be smooth to the skin and be completely invisible under the most revealing garments.
Other clients prefer a thong for everyday and find that wearing a seamless or lace style works best.
We have many recommendations depending on what style of undies you prefer. One of our favourites is Commando undies, available in seamless cuts. These are pictured below in a fun snow leopard print thong variation! Maybe not quite right for see through whites – but these will definitely hide under the tightest leggings or jeans. They are also available in a number of colours and skin tones.

What is your approach to VPL or VTL? What do you wear to the office? We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this post, and get a little discussion going if possible!

I think VPL should be right up there with “Camel Toe”
It’s a big no no! I would also have to ask if I’m the only person that gets tired of seeing people’s thongs when they bend over – help me pass the message along! It’s not flattering!
Have a good day “sisters”

For those of us with ‘hungry butt’ (behinds that seem to enjoy eating up our undies, not matter what shape or size) the thong seems to be the way to go. I know it’s not what’s hot right not, but it sure does eliminate an awful lot of digging about in public. I know I’m a much happier girl for discovering them.

I think these pictures really say it all. Finding the right panty for your outfit is key but finding the right size would also solve many of the above issues. Many women struggle with ‘the size’ when really ‘how it fits’ would be quite reasonable. My tip would be, find something that fits and make sure the cut is appropriate for your outfit. Remember, the thinner the material to your body, the less you will see it. If you wear a bikini, short or brief and you don’t want it to show, find a lace trimmed or lazer cut edge – it won’t cut in!

I prefer to avoid VPL, but when the choice is between VPL and a thong I’ll take the VPL. My personal philosophy is that underwear is your safety net in the event your pants rip or your skirt blows up, therefore you want them to cover your butt.
