Dead Bra Day!

Can you believe it is that time of year again? Dead Bra Day is coming!

Dead-Bra-Day-Sale

The idea behind Dead Bra Day is a day to encourage women to get rid of the old and bring in the new. Click here to read more about other Dead Bra Day happenings!

Women get so busy in their lives that they often forget to pamper themselves (or even just take care of basic needs). Women should be fitted for a bra once per year, so we started the sale on this day to help women to remember the importance of this! It also helps that we place a discount on the purchase – while ensuring one of the ‘dead’ bras (one that doesn’t fit) would no longer be taking up space in their drawers!

*Saturday February 13th hours 10-7 at both stores

*Bring in one dead bra and get 25% off a new one that is regular price!

*Applies for one bra purchase only. So, if you bring three dead bras you still only get one discount of 25%
*Buy the matching panties and get 25% off those as well!

*Only applies to regular priced, in-store merchandise only.

*All dead bras that are new or gently worn will be donated to SISTERING … kindly please wash your bra before donating.

*We go and do a fitting day at SISTERING to help these women find a bra that fits.

TIP:

Dead Bra Day has become quite popular and it is a busy day in the store. If you wish, come in early and have a fitting, and make a Wish List on your file in our computer. Then you just need to come in, and pick up your bra when dropping off your Dead Bra.

Otherwise, we recommend bringing a friend to chat with – the store is buzzing and we have a lot of fun! Other customers have brought books, some work to do or a mp3 player to pass the wait time. We will make a wait list on that day and do our very best to serve every customer with our full attention.

Can’t wait to see you!

Hi! I just read about your dead bra day & think it’s a great idea that I would like to support. I recently got refitted and have a couple of gently worn bras that I would like to donate but I don’t actually plan on making a purchase in your store (nothing personal, I just recently purchased some & don’t need any more at the moment). Can I still donate them, and if yes, as I don’t want the discount, do I have to come in exactly on Saturday to do so? It sounds like it will be quite hectic, so I thought I would ask. Please advise at your earliest convenience. Thank you!

    Not so secretly unimpressed.

Today I put some extra time in at the office with the notion that I would earn some extra $$, leave at 6pm and take some of my gf’s old bras in for your promotion. Seemed like a good idea, you know, good cause, discount and a nice Valentine’s day gift for my girlfriend upon her return on Monday.

Imagine to my surprise that upon arriving at 6:45 (15 min. before close) the doors were locked. I saw plenty of people inside and nearly walked into the glass door thinking the store was open. This was enough to catch the attention of a couple sales clerks who looked on as I stood there sorting out what the matter was.

My complaint is the following: would not a store clerk, seeing a man standing at the door with a bag full of bras– a man clearly not there for a fitting– be welcomed in? I mean, if this was for a good cause (as the publicity would suggest) and not merely a sales ploy, then I can’t see why this wouldn’t be the logical response.

I waited around out front a few minutes, checked my phone to make sure the store was closing at 7 and that I wasn’t mistaken, and finally left. That time, I supposed, would give someone there plenty of time to figure out what I was there for and that I could be rather easily accommodated.

    Clearly not.

Hello Josh. Would have sent this as a reply, but WordPress is wrestling with me today. Sorry about that. We can follow up on your comment by email and figure this out better.

But, we wanted to post your comment and respond.

Thanks for taking the time to express your concerns. Your idea was fantastic and you sure are thoughtful to have put forth the effort. We’re really sorry you were disappointed. We did lock the doors before 7.

When we arrived on Saturday both stores had no less than 15 women lined up, and we didn’t stop all day. We brought in extra staff from out of town and had waitlists throughout the day.

The reason we do close the doors a few minutes before 7 is because a fitting takes a minimum of 15 minutes, if not much longer, and we are simply over run on this day with customers. Yes, it is for a good cause, and yes, it drives sales, and we do our best to make each customer happy, even on a crazy day such as Dead Bra Day.

The reality is when working in retail you have to set policies and follow them. This is both for the sanity of staff and to keep the experience fair for the customer who was there first. Once a door is opened in exception, another customer (who has been waiting for ..in come cases, hours) is upset because they’ve lost their spot in the check out line. We close the doors and do our best to make all the customers in the store have the best experience we can.

We hope you aren’t so upset that you won’t come back to us for your next gift purchase.
