Hello! Yes, we do take bras in February during our Dead Bra Days sale, and in return offer a discount. We then recycle, or donate to women’s charities. hi there! I’ve heard that you take old bra’s and sometimes offer a discount in return. I recently bought 4 new (properly fitted YAY!!!!!!!!) bra’s. Now that i know that sheer joy of a proper fitting bra I have purged my old bra’s and have a pile to donate. Some of them are literally brand new and beautiful and I would hate to throw them away. I just now realize that I’ve been buying the wrong size for a very long time.

Hi Catherine! It depends on the style of bodysuit and your preferences. Regan is pictured without a bra and the bodysuits she is wearing are lingerie and have some support. Some of the ones we’ve pictured in the streetwear shots are not from lingerie companies and would have less support, so in that case you may prefer to wear a nude seamless bra. In many cases the ones we carry replace the bra as well, so no bra is required. The Empreinte pictured for example has underwires.

Essential to proper support, be it from wired, non-wired or sports bras is a proper fit. We would offer you a comprehensive fitting and then show you as many options as possible for your size, providing great day-to-day support. It may be a sports bra, and being open to this option will give you greater selection. However, we may also find a great non-wired bra that you will like. I am in my late 50s and a bit overweight. In the past few years, I have noticed that my breasts are saggier than ever before and I have relied on underwire bras for support. Now, due to health problems, I can no longer wear an underwire bra. Even the sturdiest department store non-underwire bra does not offer enough support to keep me from looking like “an old lady”. My ribcage is 40” around and I currently wear a 44DD bra. I’m no athlete, but have been eyeing some of the heavy-duty sports bras, thinking that they might give me decent day-to-day support. Does SFYS carry any bras that might give me an underwire-like support without the underwire?

Janet, our website does not sell bras. But yes, we are a bra store. We could be perceived as having a conflict of interest, and we posted this blog because we are often asked our opinion on this topic by our customers. That is why we referenced many sources in our post that do not have conflicts: The American Cancer Society, Breastcancer.org, National Cancer Institute, The BBC News Channel , The Independent, Scientific American, Breast Cancer Action.org and The New York Times.

We are unable to find a reputable source that supports the claims of this book. Do you have any suggestions?

While Dressed to Kill certainly has its supporters, we feel that the research provided by our sources; The American Cancer Society, Breastcancer.org, National Cancer Institute, The BBC News Channel , The Independent, Scientific American, Breast Cancer Action.org and The New York Times are more reliable and valid than the findings in the book.

That said, to each her own. We offer a number of bras that are wireless (many believers of the theory look for wireless bras as an alternative) and believe it or not, we don’t see a reason that a woman should wear a bra if is comfortable without one. We simply wish to dispel fear tactics and misleading information provided in the email forwards we mention that we get asked about often at the store level. Based on our best research, we do not believe that bras cause breast cancer and these emails do nothing but create fear and worry among women unnecessarily. All the best, SFYS.

This article is wrong. I am a cancer researcher, and I am convinced that there is something to the bra-cancer theory. However, I have been pressured by my peers into ignoring this link. Too much money made by bra manufacturers and drug companies profit from breast cancer treatment.
For a disease that harms so many women, there is no excuse for ignoring this theory.
BTW, I read Dressed To Kill, which the author of this article clearly did not. There is much more to this research than this very biased article states. Looks like the bra industry wrote this one.
