First, we introduce the Jolene collection.

Jolene is a wireless longline bra with matching high-waisted knickers. It is created with navy blue lace. We’re not sure you will actually want to wear anything over this. The pretty contrasting straps will capture your attention! We also have the Jolene chemise, which is stunning and quite a hip-hugger.

Mary Jane is also a longline wireless bra. The sweet polka dots and delicate styling of Mary Jane give it an authentic vintage feel.

Wendy and Lola are both underwired with low rise knickers. We think they would be lovely mixed and matched.

Finally, we brought Ophelia which is a triangle bralette available in light blue satin and cream lace.

Again, with this style we are fairly sure you will put it on and want to wear it only with a skirt or great pair of jeans, which of course is a fashion choice we support! It felt like summer arrived last week but this week we’re back to our more seasonal weather, Springtime. In the spring we see a rush of customers for prom and wedding dress needs. This post is  not just for those in formal wear though, as we’ll explore the best options in strapless and multi-way bras, and that’s great for anyone thinking ahead to summer wardrobes or planning a springtime getaway!

Tip: Shop for your strapless bra before your dress! Trying on the bra with the dress can make all the difference in fit and comfort.

We offer strapless in all sizes from A-H, 28-44.  Most are available in black and beige, and most come with straps. They can be used multi way though the straps are generally not strong enough for every day use, they do allow you to get more mileage out of the bra when worn with one shoulder garments, halter tops, and other shoulder-baring outfits.

Starting off softly, this two-tone subtly colourful bra is so pretty and feminine!

What is Dead Bra Day?

Dead Bra Day is a day for women to say, ‘Out with the old and in with the new!’ Treat your body to what it deserves. We’re on board with this way of thinking. That is why we made the Dead Bra Day Sale. MOST years, on February 13^th, we offer a discount on one bra to allow women to more easily replace an old with a new. This year, due to the overwhelming popularity of the event, we are trying something new.

We are hosting the sale over a two day period (February 11th & 12th), not on the actual Dead Bra Day. Every year we try to improve the sale day based on our experience and our customer feedback. This year we are doing the following:

1. APPOINTMENTS NOW FULLY BOOKED!! Our Yonge location will host appointments both days – walk in customers may have to wait. To book your appointment, please email new@secretsfromyoursister.com with your preferred time and phone number and email. To reserve the appointment we will ask for a Credit Card number. A small charge will apply if the appointment is missed. Having an appointment will eliminate waiting!
2. The Bloor St will be walk-in only. We only have two cash registers & a set amount of fitters. Sale time will guarantee an increase in business. You may have to wait. Please bring something to do, read, bring a friend or bring some music. We will be doing our best to be efficient and helpful while finding you a great bra.

Fittings have to fit into a 45 minute time frame in order to be able to help all the women. Bring your cell phone so if there is a wait, you can go out and shop or have a coffee & we will call you when your turn is near.

Bring us a gently worn (or new) bra that can be donated and we will give you 25% off a fresh, new style to start your year. Washed bras in reasonable condition will only be accepted.

We have also received Pompadour in black from Simone Perele. Pompadour refers to a hairstyle which is named for Madame de Pompadour (1721-1764), mistress of King Louis XV. Although there are numerous variations of the style for both women and men, the basic concept is hair swept upwards from the face and worn high over the forehead, and sometimes upswept around the sides and back as well.

We are pleased to introduce a lovely new brand to the store. Two Figs is from San Francisco and is made for busty gals who want sleepwear that is sexy, functional and luxurious. So many busty ladies have been telling us they want something sexy to wear that gives them some support but doesn’t have wires. Something to lounge in that makes them feel great, but also supports them and is flattering. This is that something. You will be in love!

Designed to fit D-G cups in a variety of bandwidths, Two Figs sizing runs as 1, 2, 3, 4.

1= 30/32 band, 2=34, 3=36, 4=38. In testing we have found the sizes fit approximately one band small, so we suggest going up one size from your regular fit. The halter style has more flexibility in sizing.

Pictured at the top of the post is the triangle chemise. We also have the triangle gown (below) and these are also coming very soon in ivory.

In the halter style we have the gown and chemise in black and navy blue.

Véronique found inspiration for this line in the artwork of the old masters, as she explains -

From this collection we have received the plunge (pictured above) in Onyx and Emerald colours, sizes D-E 32-38, as well as the brief in sizes SM-LG, the deep brief in MD-LG as well as the lovely waist cincher (pictured at the top of this post on the centre model) in MD (Emerald Only).

Fall in Toronto is always a beautiful season for going out. The smog is gone and the city is buzzing with new university students. People are home from summer vacations and the restaurants and shops are full again. Best of all, catching a great film is never easier! The Toronto International Film Festival has arrived, and we’re ready to party. Are you?

We’re going to venture a guess that the hottest dresses you own are going to be the ones you pull out of the closet. You never know which celebrity you might run into, after all. So you need to look your best! When wearing a great dress, you might want to try Commando thongs or high-waisted knickers. They are the best, most invisible knickers and will work under any garment.

Great Bras, Better Prices.

At secrets from your sister… we do our best to bring you solutions to bra questions and concerns. Here’s a letter we received from a customer this week, thanking fit-mistress Regan for her help with a bra problem!

Hello! I just wanted to send a thank you to Regan for helping me re-size my bra and make it comfy for my last few months of pregnancy. Just wanted to let her know that the back extender piece has totally fixed the two problems I had – the boning was digging into my right side and the band size felt too small – both problems are fixed now. My friend is a yoga teacher and she told me that during pregnancy, your ribcage will expand in order to make room for the baby – so I bet that after the pregnancy, I won’t even need the back extender anymore; and if I do, it’s no big deal! Thanks so much – I couldn’t wear the bra before at all and now it’s like a whole new piece of lingerie!

 

When pregnant, we do our best to fit you in a bra that will offer you flexibility and comfort over the time you are growing. In this case, Regan was able to help the customer simply by adding a back extender (a small, very affordable addition to the bra) allowing her to lengthen the lifespan of the bra and saving her money while making her comfortable.
